Skin care rosacea – The effects of ultraviolet radiation

Skin care for rosacea

The simple truth about rosacea is that there is no known cause, ie there are many factors that contribute to the appearance of rosacea.

Some of the known triggers are foods and beverages that are part of our daily diet. Other causes are the chemicals we use in our everyday activities, the makeup we wear, soaps and shampoos that we use every day to purify ourselves.

But another factor that can have a significant effect on the skin care of patients with rosacea, and one that is more difficult to eradicate from our lives is the sun, or more specifically, to ultraviolet light.

The best way to avoid the negative effects of UV light is to avoid as much as possible. Stay indoors at the height of the sun, wear a brimmed hat and stay covered as much as possible. The skin is less exposed to ultraviolet light, the less likely an attack of rosacea.

However, if the prospect of living life as a hermit dressed poorly, avoiding daylight and at night venturing not used well, then you need to invest in quality, sun protection factor of high protection.

But choose carefully, because even as we use sunscreen to protect against the worst effects of the sun, can cause an explosion of rosacea.

Most sunscreens that we apply to our skin contain somewhere between 2% and 5% of benzophenone, oxybenzone or benzophenone-3. This group of chemical that reacts to a substance, and is activated by ultraviolet light. That for most people is great, and that sunscreen is supposed to do. But for patients with rosacea which means a disaster as the active chemical will cause a variable amount of blush on the skin.

Therefore, avoid exposure to light every time UL can be safe and, when choosing sunscreen, be sure to choose both a high protection factor and the one that contains no benzophenone, oxybenzone or benzophenone-3 .
