High cholesterol does not cause heart disease

The main cause of most cardiovascular problems is a condition called atherosclerosis, often referred to as “obstruction” or “hardening” of arteries. Most people, including doctors, believe that this is caused by having too high a level of cholesterol in the blood, but if you look at all the statistics on heart disease in industrialized countries, this theory has no place.

A comparison of Western cultures and their rate of heart disease show no correlation with cholesterol. Switzerland, where people have higher cholesterol levels than other European countries, one of the lowest rates of heart attacks in all industrialized countries. Russia, which has a very high rate of heart disease, people have one of the lowest average levels of cholesterol of any nation.

The cholesterol myth

How does the medical and scientific community and the public, come to coincide with a case? You have to look at the power and influence of the pharmaceutical industry, which spent more than thirty years of marketing lucrative anti-cholesterol drugs that promise to reduce the risk of heart disease. These drugs, commonly called statins, are the most prescribed drugs and profitable market.

High cholesterol is a symptom – not a cause. Although an abnormally high cholesterol may be a symptom of problems in any part of your body, not for nothing that by itself, including atherosclerosis and heart disease.

Cholesterol is a waxy, fatty, which is manufactured in the liver and the individual cells in your body. It is also found in foods such as we all know.

Because cholesterol is a fat, it does not mix with water, the main component in the blood. For cholesterol from the liver to other parts of your body where it is needed, cholesterol is involved in what is called lipoproteins, which is transported through your bloodstream.

There are several types of lipoproteins in the blood. Low density lipoprotein (LDL) provides tissues. High density lipoprotein (HDL) carry cholesterol to the liver to be eliminated. You’ve probably heard these terms used when cholesterol is being discussed. HDL is often referred to as the “good” cholesterol and LDL “bad” cholesterol.

There really is no such thing as good or bad cholesterol. Your body needs cholesterol. Cholesterol is a vital component in the natural processes of your body’s metabolism. Here are some jobs that cholesterol is:

* Makes cholesterol membranes and cell repair and sleeves that cover and protect the nerves
* Cholesterol is metabolized vitamin D from sunlight and produces many hormones that regulate your body chemistry
* Cholesterol promotes a healthy nervous system
* Cholesterol is an essential component of the neurotransmitters in the brain that regulate brain function
* Cholesterol is used in the intestinal tract to aid proper digestion

As you can see, cholesterol is essential for good health.

What causes high cholesterol? There is no cholesterol in your diet!

There are four main reasons why their cholesterol levels can be high:

1. The liver is an effective treatment without lipoproteins, in which case there is an underlying problem, unrelated to the level of dietary cholesterol.
2. Your blood sugar in the blood are high due to a diet high in carbohydrates.
3. You may be genetically predisposed to having high levels. This is extremely rare.
4. And finally, the most likely reason: the arteries are under constant attack by free radicals. Free radicals are highly reactive particles that can damage cells and tissues. When free radicals attack the arteries, which leads to atherosclerosis and heart disease.

Free radicals are also an essential part of the body’s defense system naturally, but many of them can be very harmful. Excess free radicals are caused by poor diet, environmental stress and toxins. In the arteries, the free radical damage to the walls of arteries promotes the formation of cholesterol deposits and plaque, and your liver is to produce more cholesterol in an attempt to repair the damage. This leads to high levels of cholesterol, cholesterol is not food like eggs and butter.

The prevention of heart disease

The best way to prevent heart disease is to eat a healthy diet rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants protect against free radicals to the arteries. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals fast enough so that your arteries are healthy, and cholesterol in the blood will not be in the form of plaque.
