Back pain and nursing

Most people are unaware that nursing is a profession of increased risk of back injury. However, nurses are in accordance with industry study conducted in 1998 showed that nurses have almost double the injury rate of all occupations. In fact, nursing has the second highest incidence of all types of fatal occupational accidents in the U.S.
Other studies of back injuries and back pain related to and their relationship to the physical demands of nursing are divided into two categories of nurses, nurses working in health centers and hospitals and nurses working in the community nursing homes and nurses in private law. Nurses working in hospitals has shown a lower incidence of musculoskeletal disorders and back pain as community nurses, where there is a higher prevalence of manual handling of patients.
The two main factors contributing to back injury or pain are health care professionals lift / transfer patients and beds, it is not surprising that the biggest risk of back injuries for nurses is on the orthopedic floor operating rooms and emergency rooms. The typical patient with a minimum weight of 100 pounds. Transfer patients from bed to wheelchair or desirable with one hand is a charge level that far exceeds the level considered safe for the weight of industrial workers to handle. Home-making is a simple task if done with caution also increases the risk of back injury due to the level of awkward stretching and bending involved.

Back Pain Prevention Exercises

The strengthening of the abdomen, back muscles and legs to help reduce their vulnerability, the risk of back pain is diminished. Strong stomach, back and legs to better support the spine, reducing pressure on the intervertebral discs and the prevention of disc disease.
Key to strengthening the back muscles is, paradoxically, with the participation of the abdominal muscles. Of course, beside them, the muscles of the back should work fine. Together, they create a contraction of “belt” muscle that creates intra-abdominal pressure, which keep the spine straight. An exercise is abdominal flexion, pelvic in the prone position.
Other exercises are useful:
1. Lie on your back with your knees slightly bent and feet flat on the floor. Relax and contract your abdominal muscles, press back lumbar (“media”) on the floor while contracting your glutes and pelvis up as much as possible. Hold for 10 seconds and then relax the muscles. Repeat 10 times.
2. Perform the movements described above, and by lifting the pool, bring your right knee toward your chest, without having to help you with your hands, then go back and do the same with the left leg and hold this position for 5 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
3. in the back with one leg fully extended and locked with the knee (the other leg slightly flexed, neutral position) to begin the search for the hip with the low back muscles contracted. Then, bring the body down without touching the ground. Repeat 10 times. If you feel pain, exercise should be stopped, which has a role to strengthen the back muscles.

Back Pain: No longer just for adults

Adults are not the only ones who suffer from back pain. In fact, 60% of children experience back pain before they reach the age of 18. Many of these episodes of back pain are caused by a backpack overloaded or poorly designed and poor posture while working on a computer.
More than 6,000 children are treated in emergency rooms each year for injuries related to heavy backpacks loaded – and most are under 14 years. In addition, back injuries are up 256 percent since 1996.
Chronic pain can have long-term effects on children, their relationships, developing skills and school attendance. Therefore, parents and children are taking steps on how to relieve back pain and prevent future.
For example, many parents are investing in ergonomic backpack for their children, such as the shape or backpacks Obus AirPack available to relax your back. These backpacks ergonomic take a proactive approach to support health by redistributing the load which reduces back strain and shoulder caused by heavy loads of up to 80%
Another important cause of back pain in children is due to the long time sitting in front of a computer screen. Millions of children use computers every day at school and at home, for education and recreation, and often for 2-3 hours to one hour per day. Poor posture, on top of a poorly designed workstation, children are causing back pain similar to that makes your parents file workers comp claims.

Beat Back Pain Now

Low back pain is a major cause of seeking medical care. It plagues more than 31 million people each year in the United States. Are you one of those people who struggle day to day, trying to get through work, trying to pass the day? If so, keep reading!
What do we see when we look at the anatomy of the lower back? The lower back has five vertebrae (lumbar 1-5), the pelvis and sacrum. In addition, a complex set of muscles, ligaments and fascia that stabilize the joints of the lower back and allow our position. The low back muscles are considered part of “core” muscles and therefore, the basic stability plays a role in low back pain.
If you are in pain, I’ll give you some simple solutions to the problem:
First, do not feel as if you need surgery to treat lower back pain. Conditions such as arthritis, herniated discs, etc, as some doctors jump to the surgery. Most of time the pain of these conditions can be derived from alternative therapies. There are medical emergencies in these circumstances, if you lose a function of container or bladder, or have become very weak in the legs, please contact your physician or the nearest emergency center.
Here’s a four-step process for back pain
Manipulation of the spine by a chiropractor:
Spinal manipulation by a chiropractor for lower back has been demonstrated in a very effective treatment. When a chiropractor movement feel the lower back for a space of “fixation” or “joint locking” is the domain of adjustment goes. Manipulation affects the cellular level by decreasing pain fibers called nociceptors. Spinal manipulation by a trained chiropractor can unlock the restricted or stiff joints, so blocking pain fibers.
Lower back of Rehabilitation:
This is very important to be free of pain. With the renovation of that turn back on muscles that were cut, probably by the brain. For example, if you have any type of work that keeps the entire day, unless you are there marathons, the gluteal muscles are closed. Without the proper role of the gluteal muscles of the lower back is to go into overdrive and constituting. This can be a significant pain generator. With the rehabilitation can wake the buttocks back, then you are on the way to be free of pain again. Some simple examples of rehabilitation exercises for the gluteal muscles include gluteus bridges, dogs, birds, and triple slots further forward.

Pain in the chest and back

A combination of chest and back should be taken seriously because it can be fatal. Chest pain, in particular, can serve a number of threats to the health emergency, including but not limited to a heart attack, pneumonia, angina, pulmonary embolism, or cancer. Get a doctor or go to hospital as soon as possible.
Pay attention to your chest pain and symptoms of back pain. Take note of the details of his condition, if possible. This can help diagnose your condition the most effective treatment, especially if this is your first experience with these symptoms.
The main determination to make is whether the pain experience is the immediate result of a strain or injury, or sign long-term or chronic illness.
Temporary pain
An important point to remember is that any severe muscle tension can affect the muscle groups to their side. muscles of the upper back and chest muscles work together in many of the effects of breathing. muscle injuries usually heal within weeks.
chest pain, sometimes with back pain due to injury of the spinal cord, causing fire the nerve endings in other parts of the body. A pinched nerve in the middle region of the upper spine is a common cause of back pain and chest.
If an intervertebral disc disease or bone that is causing the pain, chest pain will be resolved once the back pain is treated and relieved. Similarly, if the chest is damaged or broken, often severe pain that appears at the top.
